Dholavira & Kutch Tours

Private tours of the Harappan city, the White Rann and Bhuj — compared honestly and bookable in a couple of taps.

Read this first. GetYourGuide’s coverage of Kutch is thin, and of Dholavira thinner still. When we checked, exactly one product on the platform included the archaeological site: a private three-day tour from Ahmedabad. Everything else below goes to the White Rann at Dhordo, to Bhuj and the craft villages, or is a day out from Ahmedabad. We have listed only real, relevant tours and invented nothing.

You can reach Dholavira perfectly well on your own with a hired car and driver from Bhuj — our getting here page explains how. A tour makes sense if you would rather have the car, the guide, the hotels and the Rann permit dealt with in one booking, or if you are starting from Ahmedabad and want to see the Little Rann, Patan and Modhera on the way.

Most of the Kutch listings are new and have no reviews yet. We show ratings exactly as GetYourGuide lists them, tell you when there are none, and judge unreviewed tours on their itinerary alone. If a tour you like does not include Dholavira, it is worth messaging the operator before booking: several pass within an hour or two of the Road to Heaven and may add a day.

Everything is booked through GetYourGuide, with secure payment and free cancellation on most options. Prices are indicative “from” prices in US dollars — tap any card for the live price in your own currency. This site does not sell entry tickets, Rann permits or Rann Utsav tents.

Ahmedabad: Dholavira & White Desert 3-Day Private Tour

The only tour we found on GetYourGuide that actually goes to Dholavira. It is a private three-day loop by car from Ahmedabad: a jeep safari in the Little Rann of Kutch for wild ass and flamingos, the ruins of Dholavira and an evening on the salt flats next to the island, then the stepwell of Rani ki Vav and the Sun Temple at Modhera on the way back. Two hotel nights with breakfast, the guide and the safari are listed as included; entrance fees and other meals are not. It is a new listing without reviews, and it is a lot of road for three days — but as a single booking that solves the transport problem, nothing else comes close.

  • A guided visit to the Harappan city of Dholavira
  • Sunset on the white Rann beside Khadir Bet
  • Little Rann jeep safari, Rani ki Vav and Modhera on the way

6-Day Kutch Tour with White Desert and Heritage Sites

The widest Kutch itinerary on GetYourGuide: Ahmedabad, Patan and Modhera, a night at Bajana on the Little Rann, three nights in Bhuj with a day at Mandvi and a long day to the villages, Kalo Dungar and the White Rann, then the eight-hour drive back. Three-star hotels and breakfast are listed as included. It still omits Dholavira — the one obvious gap — so if the ruins are your reason for coming, ask whether a day can be swapped. No reviews yet.

  • Rani ki Vav, Modhera and the Little Rann on the way west
  • Bhuj, Bhujodi, Mandvi beach and Vijay Vilas Palace
  • White Rann, Hodka, Ludiya, Dhordo and Kalo Dungar

The White Rann and the villages

Two or three days from Bhuj or Ahmedabad, with sunset on the salt, craft villages and in some cases Kalo Dungar.

From Bhuj: 3-Day White Rann of Kutch Desert Tour

The most thorough of the Bhuj-based tours for the Dhordo side of the Rann. It strings together Rogan art at Nirona, the salt desert at sunset and again at sunrise, the bhungas of Dhordo, Khavda’s potters and the view from Kalo Dungar, sleeping two nights at a village resort in Hodka rather than driving back to Bhuj. Rann permit fees are payable directly. It does not include Dholavira — but it ends at Khavda’s doorstep, so ask the operator about adding the Road to Heaven and Dholavira as an extra day.

  • Sunrise and sunset on the White Rann
  • Nirona, Dhordo, Khavda and Hodka village visits
  • Kalo Dungar viewpoint; two nights at a village resort in Hodka

From Bhuj: 3-Day Kutch Tour with White Rann & Villages

A gentler, cheaper version of the tour above that stays both nights in Bhuj. Day one is the old palaces and Bhujodi; day two is the roughly 80 km run out to the White Rann with Hodka and Dhordo and a sunset on the salt; day three is simply the airport transfer. It is in effect two days of sightseeing, and it does not go to Dholavira or Kalo Dungar. New listing, no reviews yet.

  • Aina Mahal, Prag Mahal and the weavers of Bhujodi
  • A day trip to the White Rann, Hodka and Dhordo
  • Two hotel nights in Bhuj with breakfast and airport transfers

Ahmedabad: Rann of Kutch 3-Day Private Tour with Guide

A private car and guide from Ahmedabad to Bhuj and on to the White Rann, with craft villages by day and a tented night at Dhordo with folk music. It is the one Kutch multi-day tour on the platform with a review — a single, five-star one — which is something, though not much. The Tent City operates only in the Rann Utsav season, so check what the stay becomes outside it. Dholavira is not on this itinerary.

  • Bhuj’s Aina Mahal and Prag Mahal
  • The Great Rann at sunrise and sunset
  • Hodka, Dhordo and Nirona; a night in the Tent City

Rann of Kutch: 2 or 3 Day White Desert & Cultural Experience

An all-in package built around a night in a “premium tent” near the White Rann: pickup, the Swaminarayan Temple and Kutch Museum in Bhuj, sunset on the salt, cultural programme and dinner, then sunrise and Kalo Dungar before the drive back. Having meals included is a real convenience out here. As a new listing without reviews, confirm exactly which camp is used on your dates.

  • White Rann sunset and sunrise points
  • Kalo Dungar, Bhuj’s Swaminarayan Temple and Kutch Museum
  • Premium tent, all meals and a camel-cart ride listed as included

It is a long day on empty roads and a quite different Kutch from the Rann. New listing, no reviews.

Good to know

Booking Kutch tours: common questions

Frequently asked questions

Which tours actually go to Dholavira?

At the time of writing, only the three-day private tour from Ahmedabad listed first on this page. The other Kutch tours visit the White Rann at Dhordo, not Dholavira. Always read the itinerary on the listing before you book.

Can I add Dholavira to a White Rann tour?

Often, yes, for an extra day and cost — the Road to Heaven starts near Khavda, which several tours already visit. Message the operator through GetYourGuide before booking and get the change confirmed in writing.

Why do most of these tours have no reviews?

They are new listings, and Kutch is a small market on the platform. No reviews is not the same as bad reviews, but it does mean you should read the inclusions closely and choose options with free cancellation.

Do the tours include the Rann permit and entrance fees?

It varies. Some list monument fees as included and Rann permit fees as payable on the spot; others the reverse. Check the “includes” section of each listing.

Is it cheaper to arrange a car myself in Bhuj?

Usually, yes, especially for two or more people. A tour buys you a guide, fixed arrangements and someone to hold responsible. Either approach works.

Why are prices shown in US dollars?

That is how GetYourGuide lists them for international visitors. When you click through you can switch to rupees or any other currency.
